Desquamative fibrosing alveolitis

چکیده

In the original article by Dubowitz et al. (1970) and in the subsequent studies there were few infants ofvery lowweight or gestational age: there were only 3 infants at 32 weeks, one at 31, and 2 at 28 weeks. The line for the lower gestations is an extrapolation of the correlation found nearer term. Singer et al. (1973) added a further 16 scores below 32 weeks. It is therefore gratifying to have found a satisfactory correlation between the scored and calculated ages in the present study. The correlation could probably be improved if detailed antenatal findings were also used to calculate the duration of gestation. But it is in communities where such antenatal care is minimal that the highest incidence of very premature deliveries occurs. Mothers from less sophisticated backgrounds are, however, surprisingly accurate with their dates.

"Blue bodies" in a case of cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis (desquamative type) an ultra-structural study.

A patient with cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis, with both mural and desquamative features, had two lung biopsies at the times of coronary artery surgery. These lung specimens were studied, using light and electron microscopy, with immunofluorescence techniques and electron microanalysis. In addition to the typical changes of cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis previously reported, we found "blue-...

Desquamative alveolar disease (desquamative interstitial pneumonia): case report.

Desquamative interstitial pneumonia is a disease characterized by massive alveolar cell proliferation and desquamation with sparse interstitial involvement. The reported case shows an unusually widespread radiographic reticulo-nodular image and abundant alveolar cells in the sputum. Functional studies reveal the expected diffusion defect with practically normal mechanical properties of the lung...

Fibrosing alveolitis.

Fibrosing alveolitis is a disease of unknown cause mainly involving the gas-exchanging portions of the lungs. It may occur in isolation and be called cryptogenic or idiopathic, in which case the clinical manifestations are mainly respiratory, or it may be associated with other disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The histopathologic abnormalities of the pulmonary tissue are identical in eit...

Hypothesis: exposure to solvents may cause fibrosing alveolitis.

The incidence of fibrosing alveolitis, which can be caused by many agents, is increasing. In a proportion of patients, the aetiology is unknown (cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis), but it has been suggested that environmental factors may play an important, but unrecognized, role in its pathogenesis. A review of the literature suggests that there may be a link between exposure to solvents, widesp...

Fibrosing alveolitis with autoimmune haemolytic anaemia: two case reports.

Two patients with fibrosing alveolitis and autoimmune haemolytic anaemia are described. One patient also had neurofibromatosis. The haematological associations of fibrosing alveolitis are discussed, and a possible relationship between autoimmune haemolysis and fibrosing alveolitis is suggested.

Accuracy of diagnostic coding of hospital admissions for cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis.

To determine the accuracy of diagnostic coding of cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis, the case notes of 166 admissions to four hospitals were reviewed. These consisted of all admissions that had been coded as "idiopathic fibrosing alveolitis" (ICD code 516.3: 97 admissions) or as "postinflammatory pulmonary fibrosis" (ICD code 515.9: 69 admissions). Of 88 available records of admissions coded as ...
